Moses in action for Eagles during the Russia 2018 World Cup

Nigeria Coach Gernot Rohr has insisted Victor Moses has to play regularly for his club if he hopes to stage a comeback to the country’s team.

Victor Moses quit the Eagles soon after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but top officials have lately hinted he could return to international football.

Rohr has now said it was premature for the 28-year-old Chelsea ace to quit the national team, but at the same time he has to be playing regularly for his Premier League club to earn a recall should he rescind his decision to retire from the international game.

“Victor Moses is a very good player for Nigeria. I believe it was too early for such a good player to stop international football when he did but we have to respect his decisions,” Rohr said.

“If he changes his mind we will welcome him, but he has to find that motivation within himself to come back and be ready to give his 100% at all time as we know he can.

“Then of course, it is important that he gets back to playing regularly at his club and get his sharpness back.”

Victor Moses has only made a handful of brief appearances for Chelsea this season under new manager Maurizio Sarri after he featured regularly in the last two seasons for ‘The Blues’ to win the Premier League as well as the FA Cup.

He has recently been linked a move away from the London club so that he could be playing regularly again.
