American actor, John Corbett, and his longtime girlfriend, Bo Derek, have revealed they got married secretly last year.
Corbett made the announcement on “The Talk” on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
According to him, they are both “private people” hence the need for secrecy. He said he got married to his girlfriend of 20 years in December during the Christmas period.
“We got married, and this is probably the first time – we’re pretty private people, we didn’t make an announcement,” he said.
“All our friends and family knew. But this is the first time either one of us have said something publicly about it, because really we haven’t had the opportunity.
“After 20 years we decided to get married. We didn’t want 2020 to be that thing that everyone looks back at and hated… let’s get one nice thing out of it.”
In an interview with FOX NEWS sometime last year, his girlfriend revealed why their marriage is still being delayed.
She said, “I think when you’re beginning a young family and you’re going to have children and set up this new family tree branch, it’s obviously a wonderful commitment and it’s meaningful.
“But for us in our lives, it hasn’t been yet.”
Bo Derek was once married to her ex-husband, John Derek, who died of heart failure in 1998.
She claimed she didn’t know she would find love again.
According to her, “He makes me laugh all the time. He’s full of life, full of joy,” she said.
