American actress, Rebecca Luker, dies at 59 due to ALS

American actress, Rebecca Luker, wife of actor Danny Burstein and a three-time Tony nominee, has lost her battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

The actress lost her battle on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in a Manhattan hospital.

Luker announced in February that she had been diagnosed with ALS since late last year and has been battling with the disease.

Her death was confirmed by her agent, Sarah Fargo.

Luker is survived by her second husband, Danny Burstein, who is also a Broadway performer.

The Broadway actress and singer had received Tony nominations for her performances in revivals of Show Boat, Mary Poppins and The Music Man, died at 59, according to a Hollywood reporter.

Danny Burstein had written two columns about how Luker had helped him with the recovery of COVID-19 when he had it.
