The Deputy Majority Leader, Anambra House of Assembly, Chief Emeka Aforka, has called on industrialists from the state to site branches of their businesses in rural communities in the state.

Aforka made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Ndi-Owu in Orumba North Local Government of the state on Wednesday.

The lawmaker said that siting of branches of industries at home would be in line with the “Think Home Philosophy” of the State Government.

He said the call was necessitated by the huge gap between the level of development in urban areas where they operated and the rural communities where many able-bodied youths idled away due to lack of jobs.
According to the lawmaker, many talented youths are at home looking for help due to lack of meaningful engagement, which indigenous industrialists can offer.
“Charity begins at home and government alone cannot provide all the jobs and basic amenities.
“Wealthy citizens should think about developing their state by creating jobs for the people,’’ he said.
Aforka, however, commended some industrialists, who had sited their businesses in the state and urged others to emulate them to be part of the human capital development of the state government.
“Anambra is safe and has business friendly environment. We appeal to our businessmen to join hands with the state government to develop the state,” he added.
