Nigerian fighter, Anthony Joshua, has bounced back to victory by beating Jermaine Franklin in what seems to be a comeback from string of losses.

Anthony had suffered back-to-back defeats to Ukrainian war hero, Oleksandr Usyk in the past.

Joshua had vowed to go into retirement if he lost to Franklin in one of the most important matches of his career.

This is his first win since December 2020 when he was stopped by Kubrat Pulev.

Franklin previously held an unbeaten start to his career, winning on his first 20 outings. But he lost against Dillian Whyte in his UK debut.

In the first round, Joshua stuck a jab into the face of Franklin, who exploded with shots over the top.

The two-time champion won the match with the judges scorecards reading 118-111, 117-111, 117-111.

It’s Joshua’s first win in more than two years, having lost consecutive bouts to Oleksandr Usyk.

“It was important to win. Jermaine has a good duck-and-dive style, somebody else from Britain will probably knock him out,” Joshua said.

“I respect him, he did well. I should have knocked him out but it is done. On to the next. He is here to prove himself, not roll over. I wish I could have knocked him out.” he added.
