Banditry: Kano govt shuts down 10 boarding schools

The Kano State Government has shut ten boarding schools in the state over recent abductions of school children in the Northern part of the country.

The latest incident was the abduction of over 300 female boarders by bandits in Zamfara State on Friday morning

The state Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Sunusi Kiru, therefore, made the decision of the Kano State government known late Friday.

The Education Commissioner stressed that the closure became necessary due to the rising number of abductions of school children in neighboring states.

The closed schools are situated at Ajingi, Sumaila, Jogana, Kafinmaiyaki, Gaya, among others.

Muhammad Kiru noted that the order takes effect immediately and called on parents to evacuate their wards from affected schools without delay.

Similarly, the Zamfara State counterpart has ordered the same for all boarding schools across the state.

The Nigeria Police Force has hinted the launching of a search and rescue operations for the abducted students.
