Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked travellers along Kaura Namoda-Shinkafi road in Zamfara State.
A youth leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) identified as Hamdan Alhazzai Shinkafi, suffered deflated tyres due to several gunshots from the terrorists in the attack which happened on Tuesday morning.
The bandits are reported to have riddled travellers’ vehicles with bullets.
This was confirmed by the Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesman, Mohammed Shehu, to newsmen but noted that details are sketchy as at press time.
Banditry seems to have returned after days of quietness as over 8,000 people have been reported dead since 2011 with thousands of families forced to flee their homes.
