Suspected bandits have killed two immigration officers in Takum LGA of Taraba State.

The immigration officers, identified as Inspectors Adike Austin and Uzo James were attached to Ussa Local Council checkpoint.

According to an immigration official, who confirmed the event to The Nation, they were ambushed while returning from their duty post. Their lifeless bodies and motorcycle were later found along the road.

Taraba Police Spokesman (DSP), Usman Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident informed the corpses have been deposited at a morgue for autopsy and full-scale investigation. He said the killing was not related to the ongoing herders/farmers crisis in the area.

Takum and Ussa LGAs in southern Taraba have been experiencing heightened insecurity due to attacks by militias on local farming communities.
