A 31-year-old banker, Faith Akpuchukwu, on Friday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing the sum of N1.5 million.

Akpuchukwu, whose residential address was not given, is standing trial on a two- count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp. Segun Oke, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 10 at Igbo-Efon, Lekki, Lagos.

He said that the defendant conspired with others still at large and stole N1.5 million belonging to the complainant, Mr Ekenechukwu Ekemezia.

The Magistrate, Mrs K. S. Abdulsalam, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until April 6, for mention.
