President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Faisal Shuaib as the executive director/chief executive officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for his second and final tenure of four years.
The reappointment was contained in a letter signed by the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha.
The reappointment, according to Mustapha, takes effect from January 10, 2021.
Prior to Shuaib’s appointment in 2017, the NPHCDA boss, who is a medical doctor and public health specialist, was a senior programme officer at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) at Seattle, USA.
During his time with the foundation, Shuaib was known for not just the development but also the implementation of strategies on polio outbreak response activities in Africa.
He was also commended after Nigeria was certified Wild Polio Virus free by the World Health Organization (WHO) on August 25.
Shuaib also, in 2014, served as the incident manager of the Ebola emergency operations.
He was first appointed by the president to head the NPHCDA in January 2017 after the tenure of his predecessor, Ado Muhammad, expired.
