Supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari are reportedly mobilising Nigerians and non-Nigerians in London for a counter-protest on Wednesday, KaftanPost learnt.

Buhari is currently in London on medical leave, a development opposed by some quarters, having made several medical visits to the British capital since he came to power in 2015.

A former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri staged a protest in London, demanding that Buhari returns to Nigeria and fix the country’s health system.

However, in a counter move, the president’s supporters are preparing to stage their own protest as revealed to KaftanPost by a Nigerian in Diaspora.

The source disclosed that in a message sent to her by a disgusted Nigerian, she was privileged to learn of the planned pro-Buhari rally.

The message disclosed that a reward of £75 would be given to anyone who agrees to attend the rally.

“I received a call from a close friend few last nights, asking me to help get people that can attend a Pro-Buhari rally because I have access to a little database having to be an event promoter. The pro-Buhari is scheduled for Wednesday between 12-3 pm and they will be paying £75 per head

“I find this so disgusting and disheartening and I can’t even bring myself so low to do such. This shows the level of how corrupt these leaders are and I am so sorry for some of us abroad that are willing to do such all because of money.” The message reads.

Non-Nigerians are reportedly also being lured to attend the rally to have a larger number than the protest against the President.

“They even suggested that they don’t mind non-Nigerian, still can’t help them with such,” the message revealed.

But recall that presidential spokesman Garba Shehu had dismissed the notion that Buhari is in London for medical tourism, stressing that the president has maintained a relationship with his doctors in the UK for over 30 years.

“I think that, unfortunately, there is the misconception of the president’s trip, seen in the context of medical tourism,” he said.

“President Buhari is not a medical tourist — if somebody has kept retainership with medical experts; we are talking about 3andand plus.

“Each year, they view you and examine you and give you a pass and advise you on what to do. Would you, given this position, be changing your doctors every other year, because there is a chance the distance will be shortened?

“I think the president is wise and quite correct in his decision that he retains consistently the set of doctors who have ensured good health for himself.”
