Buhari takes Tinubu on tour of Aso Villa, receives asset declaration form

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, took president-elect Bola Tinubu, round the State House on a familiarisation of the seat of power.

The duo walked into the Press Gallery of the State House after participating in the Jumat prayers at the State House Mosque.

The President and his successor, followed by a large entourage of Presidency officials and security personnel, were guided on the tour by the State Chief of Protocols (SCoP), Ambassador Lawal Kazaure.

At the Press Gallery, which is an adjoining space to the Council Chambers of the State House, the two leaders who stood for a couple of minutes, listening to their guide, did not speak to correspondents, who expected to have fire a couple of questions.

A similar exercise took place at the Vice President’s Wing of the State House on Thursday when Vice President Yemi Osinbajo showed the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, round the wing.

Meanwhile, Buhari received copies of his asset declaration form at the State House, Abuja.

He received the form from a delegation of the Code of Conduct Bureau led by its Chairman, Prof Isah Mohammed on Friday afternoon.

This is in compliance with the provision of the 1999 constitution which mandates all public officers to declare their assets and liabilities on the assumption of office and at the end of their tenure.

The asset declaration form is a schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) and is mandatory for all elected, appointed, recruited and contracted Public Officers.

Declarants are required by Law to state their assets/liability including that of their spouses who is not a Public Officer and children under 18 years of age and submit same to the Bureau within 30 days of the receipt of the forms.
