President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki have reacted to the death of immediate past National Vice Chairman (North West) of the All Progressive Congress, Inuwa Abdulkadir.
Inuwa, 55, who died early Monday at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, was buried at his residence in Gawon Noma area, Sokoto..
At the burial was the Grand Khadi of Sokoto, Mohammed Usman, the state deputy governor, Manir Dan’Iya, amongst others.
Inuwa, a former commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, former Minister of Youth Development and member of recently dissolved APC NWC was until his death, the Pro-Chancellor of Sokoto State University.
Buhari, in a statement by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Monday, condoled with family members, friends and political associates of the party stalwart, who served the country as Minister of Sports and Youth Development.
According to the president, Abdulkadir’s humility, maturity and penchant for facilitating reconciliation among members will be sorely missed at a time the APC is rebuilding and repositioning to deliver on its promises.
He urged members to always remember and project same legacies of putting the country first.
Similarly, Tamnuwal described Abdulkadir as a brother and good friend, whom they have come a long way since their zestful childhood till now.
“He fought brilliantly without anticipating reward. He was firm in his belief in fate, taking in his stride any unfortunate incident that could shake the faith of a lesser mortal.
“A strong pillar upon which I more often than not rest my weight of worries, no doubt Nigeria and Sokoto state have lost a true son, patriotic and upright, in Barrister Inuwa Abdulkadir.
“He passed on at a time when all of us in Sokoto needed him most, leaving a gap that would take some time to fill. As we mourn him, I, on behalf of family, government and good people of Sokoto, pray for the repose of his soul. May he find rest and peace in the hereafter,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile,
Saraki, in a Twitter thread, said Abdulkadir was decent in his politics, adding that they both maintained good relationship despite being in different political parties.
“I received with shock and sadness the news of the death of Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, the Magatakarda Babaa of Sokoto. Inuwa was a brother, friend, associate and a man who brought decency into his politics,” wrote Saraki.
“Though, we were no longer in the same party, we maintained a good relationship and he will be sorely missed. I commiserate with his immediate family, the people and government of Sokoto State, particularly Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on his demise.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his sins and grant him a place in Aljannah firdaus.”
