The late American actor, Chadwick Boseman, won a posthumous award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes Award on Sunday, February 28, 2021.

The actor won best actor in a drama for his poignant role in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, a trumpet player.

This award came months after he lost the battle to cancer at age 43.

His widow, Simone Ledward Boseman, accepted the award on his behalf at the virtual event.

Simone Ledward was seen struggling with how to fight back tears as she accepts his award in a video.

In an emotional atmosphere, Simone said, “He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells us you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history.”

She added: “I don’t have his words but we have to take all the moments to celebrate all we love, so thank you, HFPA, for this opportunity to do exactly that.

“And honey, you keep ’em coming. Thank you.”

Chadwick won the award over Riz Ahmed (“Sound of Metal”), Anthony Hopkins (“The Father”), Gary Oldman (“Mank”) and Tahar Rahim (“The Mauritanian”).

Other winners of the night include Andra Day for best actress drama, Jamie Foxx for Soul and many others.
