Chinese-Canadian pop star, Wu Yifan also known as Kris Wu, has been arrested and detained by Chinese police on suspicion of rape.
According to the Chinese police, the pop star was arrested on Sunday.
The allegations emerged last month on a Chinese social media platform, Welbo.
A woman named Du Meizhu claimed the pop star assaulted her when she was a student of Communication University of China in Beijing.
Kris Wu denied the allegations when the allegations were made last month. His company also described the allegations as “malicious rumours”.
However, China’s top law enforcement agency, the ruling Communist Party’s Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, has taken charge of Kris’s detention.
They posted this, “On Chinese land, it is necessary to abide by Chinese laws. We do not wrong; we do not indulge. We take facts as the basis and the law as the criterion.”
