Nigeria has been thrown into a state of utter disbelief as the late Afrobeat legend, Fela, missed out on the induction of Rock & Roll Hall of fame even after coming second.

Recall that Fela, who was leading side by side with Turner, was nominated in February alongside veteran artistes like Devo, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Mary J.Blige and others.

Tina Turner came first with 583196 votes with Fela coming second with 520525 votes, The Go-Go’s came third with 427654 votes.

However, it came as a surprise to see the third winner, The Go-Go’s, selected among those to be inducted, leaving Fela who came second.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has released its 2021 inductees and Fela’s name was omitted.

Legends like Jay-z, Foo Fighters, Carole King and others were included in the 2021 inductee list released by the organisers.

The 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

A great number of Nigerian artists supported and even campaigned for the late afrobeat singer with hashtags like #VoteFela #VoteFelaKuti.
