The first Coronavirus test taken by Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State was declared inconclusive.

The exercise conducted last week by medical personnel from the National Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) prompted the Governor to insist on another test to determine his status.

KaftanPost gathered that the inefficient NCDC officials had mixed his initial samples with other samples and therefore couldn’t determine the result hence it was declared inconclusive.

And immediately El-Rufai insisted on a new test “just to be responsible in case he might have been exposed to the virus in his meetings,” a source close to the Governor said, insisting that the test at his instance was not because he had symptoms of the virus.

It was gathered that after took the new test, the Governor went into isolation awaiting the result which later proved conclusively that he was positive.

And he has been in isolation since, where even family members were prevented from having access to him.

“Not even his wives are allowed to see him,” a source told KaftanPost.

Clinicians and medical laboratory practitioners interviewed by KaftanPost acknowledge the problem of occasional mishandling of specimen and false testing and advise that in a pandemic situation where large scale tests are done over a large population, that to be sure of these tests, random or suspect results ought to be retested as much as possible.

They advised that people tested negative should take advantage of a second opportunity to test again.
