A married couple, Osas Onyeokweni and Tomisin Onyeokweni have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command over alleged sexual assault on a 20-year-old lady.
This revelation was made by the command’s spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in Abeokuta.
According to Oyeyemi, the couple were arrested on Monday following a complaint by the victim whose name was withheld.
“The victim was called on her phone by her ex-boyfriend, Osas, who is married to her friend, Tomisin, to meet up for an important discussion,” the DSP said.
Furthermore, the victim said that when she got to the venue of the meeting, she met the couple and they enticed her into an uncompleted building where her friend Tomisin tore her dress with a pair of scissors.
“Just as Tomisin tore her dress, her ex-boyfriend Osas held her down and her friend which is now Osa’s wife, Tomisin, inserted an empty bottle of herbal drink into her private part. The couple went further to snap her naked picture and threatened to upload it online if she summoned the courage to report to anyone,”he added.
Following the report, Oyeyemi said the DPO Agbara division, Dahiru Saleh, ordered his investigators to go after the couple and they were eventually arrested.
“On interrogation, the couple admitted committing the crime but pleaded that they regretted their action,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Kenneth Ebrimson, has directed that the accused be charged to court as soon as inquiry is concluded.
He likewise sworn never to allow any violence against women to go uninvestigated.
