A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a labourer, Iliyasu Ibrahim, to six months imprisonment for stealing children clothing valued at N210,000.
Ibrahim, a resident of Kawo in Kaduna State, was arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, store breaking and theft.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, handed down the sentence after the convict had pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Leo Chidi, had told the court that one Mustapha Dogara of Malali area of Kaduna, reported the case at Kawo Police Station on July 30.
According to Chidi, the convict and one other person now at large, burgled the complainant’s shop located at Kawo, Kaduna, through the roof, and stole children clothing valued at N210,000.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the convict confessed to the crime.
Chidi said that the offence was punishable under Sections 348, 347 and 287 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.
