Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha is at the head of a 12-member Task Force set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to combat the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus in the country.

On a day that Minister of Health, Osagie Enahire, confirmed a second case of Coronavirus infection in the country, the Presidential Task Force was set up in view of the global outbreak of the virus and its potential of causing significant disruption to health services in the country as well as impacting negatively on the economy.

A statement in Abuja Monday signed by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu explained further that the Tasn Force was set up “in preparation for the unlikely but probable major outbreak of the disease in the country which will require a multi-sectoral inter-governmental approach as advised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) similar to that adopted for the HIV epidemic in the last two decades.

“The start and finish task group which would be expected to deliver within a maximum period of six months comprises the following: Dr. Sani Aliyu – National Coordinator;  Hon. Minister of Health, Hon. Minister of Interior; Hon. Minister of Aviation; Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Services; Hon. Minister of Education; Hon. Minister of Information and Culture; Hon. Minister of Environment; Director-General, State Services; Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Contro and WHO Country Representative.

Recall that Mr Enahire at a press conference in Benin City, Edo State, announced the country’s second confirmed case of coronavirus.

The victim, he said, had contact with the Italian who was the first index case of coronavirus in Nigeria during his visit to Ogun State.
