The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,940 new cases of coronavirus in the country.
The public health agency made this known in an update on Facebook this morning.
The recent tally represents less than 50 per cent of infections recorded the previous day.
Recall that the NCDC had announced 4,035 fresh cases – the highest daily figure since Nigeria recorded its first case in February last year.
The NCDC noted that the confirmed cases were from 19 States and the Federal Capital Territory.
A breakdown shows that “Lagos-845, FCT-734, Oyo-120, Rivers-69, Delta-30, Kaduna-29, Edo-21, Plateau-20, Gombe-14, Anambra-11, Enugu-11, Osun-10, Ekiti-8, Kano-5, Bayelsa-4, Ogun-4, Katsina-3, Bauchi-1, Jigawa-1.”
The latest figure brings the total number of confirmed cases to 233, 353.
With 187 patients discharged in the last 24 hours, it means a total of 212, 040 persons have recovered.
However, no fatality was confirmed today as the deaths remained at 2,991.
