State governors and their deputies will take the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday March 10.

This was made known by the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi, on Thursday.

He addressed the media after governors’ emergency virtual meeting, saying that the vaccination would be done publicly.

The NGF chairman said the forum was committed to working with the federal government on a cold chain for the vaccine, urging Nigerians to take the vaccine because it was safe for persons up to 18 years.

Fayemi advised them to register on the National Primary Health Care Development Agency website – nphcsaict.com.ng/publicreg.

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, had briefed governors on the 3.92m doses of the vaccine received by Nigeria.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, top government officials and frontline health workers would be the first to receive the vaccine on Saturday.
