COVID-19: Nigeria breaks cent mark with 117 new cases

For the first time, Nigeria recorded three digits for new coronavirus cases in the country.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 117 persons tested positive for the COVID-19 on Tuesday – the highest daily tally.

In its update on Twitter, Lagos, the country’s epicentre, which had no fresh infection on Monday, racked up just a little above 50 per cent with 58.

The Federal Capital Territory and Kano State are next with 29 and 14 persons respectively.

Borno State appears to be on a rapid rise, racking up its ninth case in less than 48 hours.

Katsina State picked up four fresh cases, completed by the trio of Ogun (3) Rivers (1) and Bauchi (1).

Overall, there are now 782 positive cases across the country and with three more deaths, the total fatalities rose to 25.

In terms of recoveries, 197 persons have defeated the virus.
