COVID-19: Nigeria nears 70,000 cases with 169 new infections

Nigeria is fast approaching 70,000 coronavirus cases after recording 169 new infections on Thursday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed this on its website.

This has brought the total number of cases in the country to 66,974.

However, there were no confirmed deaths within the last 24 hours, while 92 patients had recovered and were discharged.

This means the number of fatalities remained at 1169 with 62,585 patients discharged.

The NCDC noted that the new cases were spread across 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Kaduna State recorded the highest number of infections with 74 cases, while 42 of the new infections were recorded in FCT, 17 in Lagos, and eight in Kano State.

Others were Ogun, Oyo and Rivers, six each, Ekiti and Bauchi three each, Katsina, two, while Delta and Ondo had one each
