Covid-19: Nigeria records 206 new cases on Sallah day

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country recorded 206 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday.

In its daily update via Facebook, the NCDC said the new infections were reported in nine states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Lagos had the most cases with 132, followed by Akwa Ibom (56) and Ekiti (5).

Others are Delta (3), Rivers, Enugu, Jigawa and Katsina with two each while Gombe and FCT had one apiece.

According to the health agency, the country’s total cases is now 169,884 albeit only 5,151 are active.

There was, however, no fatality in the last 24 hours, the NCDC said.

“On the 20th of July 2021, 206 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria

Till date, 169,884 cases have been confirmed, 164,733 cases have been discharged and 2,128 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,” the agency said.

“The 206 new cases are reported from 10 states- Lagos (132), Akwa Ibom (56), Ekiti (5), Delta (3), Rivers (2), Enugu (2), Jigawa (2), Katsina (2), Gombe (1) and FCT (1)

“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities”.
