A Professor of Medical Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, Ifeoma M. Ezeonu, has advised Nigerians to stay at home to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
President Muhammadu Buhari, had on Sunday, announced a total lockdown of the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun States in a bid to cage the virus.
This has attracted a hum, with notable Nigerians questioning the Federal Government’s authority to impose such sanction.
However, in a post on Twitter, Prof. Ezeonu believes this may be the only option.
She gave her reasons in these tweets below:
WHY WE SHOULD STAY HOME
CoVID-19 incubation period is about 14 days.
During this time, those that have it don’t know and can transmit it to others if they move around.
If we can stay home for 14 days:
1. People who are already infected will manifest.

– some will not show symptoms (asymptomatic), but will clear the virus with NO TRANSMISSION.
– many will have mild disease and recover at home with NO TRANSMISSION.
– few will have more serious disease requiring help. They call the hotline and help gets to them.

They recover. There may be 1 or 2 deaths, but LITTLE OR NO TRANSMISSION.
2. People who are not infected, stay uninfected.
RESULT = The cycle of transmission breaks.
Bye-Bye Coronavirus
THAT’S WHY WE SHOULD STAY AT HOME#TakeResponsibility #StayAtHomeAndStaySafe
