The Acting Inspector General of Police (IG), Usman Alkali Baba, has described as critical the security situation in the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones of the country.
Baba disclosed this on Friday in Abuja at the opening of a meeting with police strategic commanders in the zones.
He said the meeting was aimed at discussing security issues affecting the two regions’ order to resolve them as he expects commanders of the zones to implement the outcome.
The IG said the challenges would require the force to rejig its operational strategies to ensure that the issues were nip in the bud immediately.
Baba was named acting IG on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari, replacing Mohammed Adamu, whose tenure ended in February but was extended on February 4.
