Afrobeat stars, Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido and Olamide have all been nominated for the 66th Grammy Awards.
The 66th Grammy will be held on February 4, 2024 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Burna Boy leads the Afrobeat list with four
nominations, Davido has three with others behind.
The newly created category for Afrobeat stars has Asake ft Olamide ‘Amapiano’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’, Davido’s ‘Unavailable’ South African Tyla’s Water’ and Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’.
Davido was nominated in the Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance.
Burna Boy was nominated in the Best Melodic Rap, Best Global Music Album, Best Global Music Performance.
In reaction to the nominations, Davido took to his X page to congratulate himself. He tweeted, “3 nominations at the Grammys! Delay is not denial!”
