Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe has completed his Rangers medical ahead of completing an 18-month loan deal.

Defoe had his medical in Manchester on Saturday after agreeing personal terms with the Scottish Premiership club earlier this week.

Defoe is expected to join up with the squad for their mid-season break in Tenerife on Monday.

Rangers are also hopeful of completing a deal to bring Steven Davis back to Ibrox, with the midfielder set for a medical after holding talks with the club.

Despite early talk of a permanent move, it is understood the Northern Ireland captain, who has six months remaining on his St Mary’s contract, is now more likely to join on loan, also.

Davis spent four years at Rangers and was part of the club’s last title-winning side in the 2010/11 season.
