The newly sworn-in Commissioner for Finance in Delta, Mr Fidelix Tilije, on Monday warned staff of the ministry and its parastatal agencies against all forms of corrupt practices.

Tilije gave the warning in Asaba while officially taking over the headship of the ministry from the Permanent Secretary, Mr Cornelius Semiteje.

He urged them to uphold the virtues of sincerity, accountability and commitment to duty.
Tilije told the workers to rise up to their responsibilities by keying into the vision of the state government toward achieving “A Stronger Delta”.

He assured them of his determination to run an open office aimed at carrying everybody along in the scheme of things.

“I am not a saint, but I must confess that I strongly abhor absolute corruption. If before now you were doing something which you know and your conscience bears you witness that it is not okay.

“I want to crave your indulgence to stop such acts if we must move this ministry and the state forward.

“There should be absolute sincerity, accountability and unalloyed commitment to duty for us to actualise a stronger platform that will accelerate the “Stronger Delta” vision of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa.

“It is my strong belief that the best way for us to achieve a healthier ministry that we all will be proud of tomorrow is for us to be open to one another,” he said.

Tilije also warned the workers against rumour peddling, saying that: “if you have anything to tell me, whether the issue is pleasing or not, you should not hesitate to come over to my office and tell me.“

“I will rather prefer that you come to my office and talk to me on any issue, rather than discuss such issue with your colleagues and begin to rumour around. ”
Earlier, Semiteje assured the commissioner of the workers’ support toward actualising a stronger Delta.
