Director General of NIPSS, Prof Habu Galadima, dies of COVID-19

The Director General of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Habu Shuiabu Galadima, is dead.

Secretary and Director of Administration of the Institute, Brid. Gen. C.F.J. Udaya (rtd), announced the death in a statement on Sunday in Jos.

According to Brid. Gen. Udaya, Prof. Galadima, 57, died Sunday morning after a brief illness suspected to be Covid-19 complications.

“On behalf of the Board of Governors, management and staff of the institute, we regret to announce the sudden demise of the Director General of NIPSS, Prof. Habu Galadima, which occurred this morning, December 20, after a brief illness.

“He will be buried according to Islamic rites,” he said.

Born in 1963 in Toto Local Government of Nassarawa State, Professor Galadima received early education at Shafa Abkpa Primary School and Federal School of Arts and Science, Suleja. He then proceeded to the University of Jos, where in 1987 he obtained a degree in Political Science.

In search of further specialisation in International Relations and Strategic Studies, he pursued postgraduate training in his Alma Mata, earning the MSc degree in 1990 and PhD in 2006.

Professor Galadima was appointed DG of NIPSS in August, 2019.

It should be recalled Professor Osakwe of Nigerian Defence Academy died on Saturday from COVID-19.
