The Godwin Obaseki’s re-election effort towards a second term as Governor of Edo State has been hit by yet another setback with the resignation of the Director Obaseki/Shuaibu Movement, Mr Patrick Iyoha.

Iyoha, a member of the state Waste Management Board resigned his appointment on Tuesday.

In a letter dated July 28, addressed to Gov. Godwin Obaseki, Iyoha said that his resignation was with immediate effect and due to personal reason.

Similarly, two members of the Movement, which was set up solely for the purpose of actualising the second term agenda, including Mr Gabriel Oiboh, Chairman, State Post Primary Education Board, also rendered their letters of resignation to the governor.

Oiboh and first member of the board, Mr Osanyemwere Osawe, in a letter dated July 28, said that their resignations followed pressure to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Earlier, three commissioners of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Area Development Commission had on Monday reigned their appointments.

The commisioners — Osamwonyi Atu, Emmanuel Odigie and Rilwanu Oshiomhole — represented Edo South, Edo Central and Edo North senatorial districts.

It could be recalled that there had been series of similar resignations by top officials of the government in the recent past, following the defection of Obaseki, elected governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) four years ago, from APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having failed to pick the APC ticket.
