Edo Train Attack: Two more victims rescued

The Edo State Government says two more victims of the Iguebe train attack have been rescued by a joint team of security operatives.

The victims are among 20 persons abducted last week by gunmen at the Tom Ikimi train station in Igueben.

This increase the number of rescued victims to nine as seven were earlier rescued.

The Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nekhihare, told newsmen on Friday that 11 victims are still in the custody of the kidnappers.

He said the two victims were rescued early Thursday morning, adding that the State Government in conjunction with the security agents in the state are putting heads together to ensure the remaining nine in captivity are released.

On the abducted Magistrate of the Igueben Customary Court, the Commissioner said Mrs. Precious Aigbonoga, was rescued by a combined team of security agents in collaboration with vigilantes and hunters in the state.

“Mrs. Aigbonoga was rescued unhurt but unfortunately, one of the policemen, DSP Michael Adams, involved in the rescue operation died of natural causes after the operation. He wasn’t fell by bullet.

“Also, the State Deputy Governor and Directors of all the security agents have paid a condolence visit to the widow and children of the deceased,” he said.
