All stolen assets belonging to Nigeria has to be repatriated towards enhancing the welfare of citizens.

The newly cleared Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, stated this during his screening by the Senate in Wednesday.

Bawa said: “We need to repatriate all our stolen asset for the benefit and betterment of all Nigerians. To our strategic partners around the world, I intend to work with them closely by sharing information in order to attain our mutual and independent objective.”

Recall that the country had been plagued by cases of looted public funds hidden in foreign banks which analysts say are worth taking care of the needs of Nigerians.

A typical example is the Abacha loot which has dominated global headlines owing to the amount being discovered stuck in banks abroad.

This is aside other convicted former public officers who served various administrations with various degrees of loots carted away at expiration of their terms.

Bawa took a bow today as the new Chairman of the EFCC taking over from Ibrahim Magu, who is currently standing trial.
