Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State currently on self-isolation having tested positive to Coronavirus, has denied breaking the quarantine rule to monitor compliance with his government’s stay-at-home order slammed on the populace.

A video of the Governor driving round Kaduna metropolis to monitor the restriction order he declared in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis in the state, emerged last week, shortly after he tested positive to the virus and was supposed to be in self-isolation.

But a tweet by the state government on Tuesday explained that the video of the drive round town was taken a day before he tested positive to Coronavirus.

A government source told KaftanPost that a test taken by the Governor prior to the monitoring exercise was muddled up by the medical personnel from the National Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) that conducted it hence they declared it inconclusive.

The Governor, the source said, insisted on another test which was taken immediately after the monitoring exercise, adding that El-Rufai thereafter went into self-isolation awaiting the result, which came the following day and conclusively proved he was positive.

The Governor has since been in self-isolation.
