Equity market opens in positive trend, gains N69bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday opened in positive trend after the Presidential and National Assembly election, gaining N69 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.57 per cent to N12.194 trillion from N12.125 trillion reported on Friday.

Also the NSE All Share index appreciated to 32700.12 points from 32515.52 points recorded previously. Investors traded 219.808 million shares worth N5.549 billion in 2999 deals against 221.466 million shares valued at N2.240 billion exchanged hand on Friday in 2659 deals.

An analysis of investment showed that Nigerian Breweries led gainers table during the day, appreciating by N3.20 kobo to close at N83.20 kobo, Mobil Plc followed with a gain of N2.00 to close at N180.00, Dangote Flour Nigeria Plc increased by N1.00 to close at N11.05 kobo, Nascon added N0.65 kobo to close at N18.90 kobo, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc gained N0.50 kobo to close at N15.50 kobo.

On the contrary, Total Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by N5.00 to close at N190.00, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of N0.20 kobo to close at N20.00, Access Bank fell by N0.05 kobo to close at N6.35 kobo, FBNHoldings declined to N0.05 kobo to close at N8.30 kobo, PZ Cusson down by N0.05 kobo to close at N12.30 kobo.
