The interest of the Federal Government has been geared towards boosting the revenue of the country away from oil.

This drive was renewed with the global coronavirus spread which over the months in review has cocooned tourists to looking inwards and enjoying the beauty of their local tourism potentials.

A renowned International expert, Ikechi Uko who recently embarked on a fact-finding mission of local destinations in Nigeria with a view to exposing them to reformations and revenue generation, paid a visit to Akwa Ibom State after which he scored the state high having a wide array of side attractions that are worth visiting.

KaftanPost caught a glimpse of his scorecard of the oil-rich state on his Facebook post.

Uko wrote: “Wahala for who never go Akwa Ibom.Do you know they have the Best Stadium in West Africa. Do you know they own Ibom Air the only state-owned Airline in Africa. Do you know they own the Guinness World Record for the largest choir at the Annual 999 Event. But you weren’t sure about the best cuisine in Nigeria. You probably argued about the babes too. The state which lies on the coast of the Atlantic also caught the attention of the tourism enthusiast.

“You definitely didn’t know they have 38 Islands. You also didn’t know they have the longest continuous beach outline in West Africa, 2,410km long of which Ibeno Beach is 1200km long one of the finest in the World,” he added.
Speaking further he shared his view on the beautiful confluence of the state among other attractions.

“My best discovery is the confluence Islands at Itu. I bet you, you didn’t know this. The confluence of Cross River and River Eniong is a marvel. I have been obsessed somewhat with confluences in Nigeria.

“My two top ones are at Lokoja and Oguta. Once I saw this I took a canoe to the Island it was a nice experience. The highest point in the State overlooks the confluence and jokingly called ITUMANJARO lol. Mary Slessor operated from Itu with Missionary Outreach along the Rivers. Christianity in Abia and Ebonyi passed through this River so did slavery and colonial trade. My four days in Akwa Ibom was full of adventure and food and more food. Close to 10 Different types of Meals in 3days”.

The visit according to the post by Ikechi Uko was hosted by the Commissioner of Tourism, Hon Orman Esin and supported by IbomAir.

He ended by saying” We also met with the Chief of Staff for the State Mr. Ephraim Inyang.

Akwa Ibom is more than Oil. The Food Eh. The Food. Wahala for who never Go Akwa Ibom”
