The Feminist Coalition (FemCo) has responded to the allegations on transparency of funds going on twitter.
Recall that a twitter user, @Rx_Deyholar, on Friday, March 12, 2021 said the Feminist Coalition has stylishly moved $51,000 worth of bitcoin from the original account to a new one.
“Feminist Co withdrew $51,000 worth of Bitcoin from their donation wallet on the 5th of this month silently,” he tweeted.
However, the Coalition responded to the allegation saying the delay in confirming the transaction was because the network has been clogged for months.
It went on to make some outlines on how the fund was spent, adding that they worked “tirelessly” since October 2020 to ensure all available needs were made concerning the #EndSARS movement.
Femco also claimed they stopped receiving donations on October 22, 2020, two days after the attack on Lekki Tollgate protesters.
The Outline of funds spent are as follows;
1. #EndSARSresponse (Medical) – N20,114,087.25
2. The Legal Aid Network – N15,741,459.59
3. Relief for victims of Police Brutality and families of the deceased – N40,228,174. 51
4. Memorial for the fallen – N5,247,153.197
5. #EndSARSMentalHealthSupport – N6,121,678.73
According to FemCo, N20,114,087.25 was spent on medical expenses and N6,121,678.73 on #EndSARS Mental health support from October to November, 2020.
They also claimed to have donated N40,000,000 to 80 families (N500,000 each) across Nigeria who have lost loved ones to Police Brutality. They also claimed to have supported a “fatally impacted family” with additional funds (the sum of N5,682,000) for house rent, clothing, food and other necessities, making N45,682,000 in total.
Furthermore, FemCo claimed they released the ‘Memorial for the falling’ documentary on December 31, 2020 with the sum of N2,000,000.
According to the Feminist Coalition, the bitcoin transaction was initiated on November 16, 2020 from the Coalition wallet address and was confirmed on March 5, 2021 at 15:07.
