FG closes land borders for presidential, NASS elections

All Nigeria’s land borders have been shut across the country for the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.

This was disclosed by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Isah Idris.

The effort was to ensure a hitch-free polls devoid of violence and distractions.

Idris, in a statement on Thursday said: “The federal government has directed the total closure of all land borders effective from 00.00 hours on Saturday, 25th February,2023 to 00.00 hours Sunday, 26th February, 2023.”

He added that: “Accordingly, all command comptrollers especially those in the Border States are to ensure strict enforcement of this directive.”

Meanwhile, the Police also announced ban on movement from Friday night to Saturday after the polls.
