Flood ravages Kano as farmers lament N2bn in damages

Crops, houses and valuables worth over N2 billion have been reported lost to excessive flooding which has ravaged Kano State.

This was made public by the Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency, Sale Jili while speaking on Monday during a World Day for Peoples with Special Needs.

Jili explained that in Bagwai area of the state alone over 50 hectares of crops were destroyed by the floodings while adding that government is doing everything possible to come to battle the situation.

According to Jili, over 5000 houses were washed away by flooding at Dambatta Local Government Area of the state. Jili explained that government has equipped the office of People’s with Special Needs to enable them to operate freely.

In the meantime,the State House of Assembly has called on the State government urgently come to the aide of the people affected by the recent heavy downpour across the state especially farmers who have expansive farmlands submerged by flood.
