French President, Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for coronavirus.
The presidential Elysee Palace confirmed this on Thursday after Macron took COVID-19 test for experiencing some symptoms.
“The President took a test as soon as he got first symptoms and would isolate himself for seven days.
“He will continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance,” the statement added.
The French president now joins the list of the several heads of state and government around the world who have contracted Covid-19, including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, France earlier this week eased restrictions imposed to battle the second wave of the coronavirus but infection rates remain high.
