Gospel singer, Tim Godfrey, has stated that there is nothing wrong with spiritual singers requesting for performance fees. He said some are needed and he gave his reasons.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Tim said charging clients for performances and concert appearances is a choice an artiste has to make.

According to him, many singers do it for free while many have stopped doing that based on past experiences.

He added that he charges because he has band members who in turn has families and individual needs to attend to.

He said, “Whatever God has called one to do, one should just do it. If God has called one not to charge (performance fees), that is fine.

“Every gospel artiste receives a sort of honorarium. We have responsibilities and we do these things full-time.

“Some people still owe me for my performances. Some people’s decision to charge fees is based on past experiences.

” I have band members I pay and they have families they cater for. Sometimes, I do some concerts for free or based on relationships.”

The singer recently tied the knot with his wife, Erica Katrina, in April 2022.
