Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has confirmed that he is in talks with the State House of Assembly on the emirates set up by the past administration.

Former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had established new emirates – Gaya, Bichi, Karaye and Rano – after his face-off with deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido.

A statement Wednesday night by Yusuf’s spokesperson Sanusi Bature confirmed that the government had not taken any decision.

Bature promised that “the engagements between the executive and the legislative arms of government in Kano will be open and transparent”.

The people of Kano will have access to information on major policies and decisions of the NNPP-led administration, he added.

The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Lawal Hussaini had earlier advised the public to disregard information about anÿ action on the emirates.

The law which established the new emirates removed 36 of Kano’s 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) from the Kano emirate.

Rano has 10 LGAs: Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya, Takai, Sumaila, Kura, Doguwa, Tudunwada, Kiru and Bebeji; Gaya has 9 LGAs: Gaya, Ajingi, Albasu, Wudil, Garko, Warawa, Dawakinkudu, Gabasawa and Gezawa.

Karaye has 4 LGAs: Karaye, Rogo, Gwarzo, Kabo, Rimingado, Shanono, Madobi, and Garunmalam. Bichi has 9 LGAs: Bichi, Bagwai, Tsanyawa, Shanono, Kunchi, Dambatta, Makoda, Dawakintofa and Tofa.
