Grammy nominated Pop artiste, Sophie Xeon, dies aged 34

Scotland-born artist, Sophie Xeon popularly known as Sophie Xeon has died, aged 34.

Sophie was a Grammy award nominee, a pop artist, DJ and musician born September 16, 1986 in Glasgow Scotland, and died on January 30, 2021 in Athens Greece at age 34.

The Pop artist who had remained anonymous later revealed herself as a trans-woman with singles “Bipp” in 2013 and “Lemonade” in 2014.

The artist died at 4AM in Athens after an accidental fall from her balcony.

Few celebrities had reacted to the news, sending condolences to the deceased, most especially from the LGBTQ community.

Four-time Grammy Awards winner singer, Sam Smith tweeted: “The world has lost an angel. A true visionary and icon of our generation. Your light will continue to inspire so many for generations to come.”

French singer and songwriter, Christine and the Queens described Sophie as “stellar producer, a visionary, a reference,” who rebelled against “the narrow, normative society by being an absolute triumph, both as an artist and as a woman.”

Sophie was confirmed dead by a family member through a representative, Ludovica Ludinatrice.

“Tragically our beautiful Sophie passed away this morning after a terrible accident.”

The representative continued, “True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell. She will always be here with us. The family thank everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time.”

A Police Spokesperson in Athens, Greece confirmed the news.

Sophie had collaborated as a producer with a long list of artists, including Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Vince Staples, and Charli XCX.
