Guber polls: Police ban protests in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has banned all form of protest in the state following the outcome of the governorship election in the state.

The PPRO, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Sunday, explained that security report necessitated the move.

He also announced that all proposed protests under any guise in any part of the state were prohibited.

There have been persistent protest embarked upon by women believed to be supporters of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after their candidate lost in the poll.

According to the statement, “The Nasarawa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the state.”

The statement added that the police command took the decision so as to stop the breakdown of law and order and to sustain the peace currently being enjoyed in the state, stressing that the intelligent report on security can no longer sustain any form of protests in the state.

The statement advised parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards do not violate the order, assuring that anyone caught shall be arrested and be made to face the full wrath of the law.
