Kannywood actress turned singer, Safiya Yusuf aka Safara’u, has opened up on how her leaked nude video had affected her.
In an interview with BBC, she said the first three months were depressing for her and she had locked herself up in the house.
She also opened up on the treatment she got from people when she decided to step out from depression. On one occasion, she said she was stoned.
Safiya said the act had caused her to lose many TV deals and she had diverged into singing.
The 21-year-old expressed her gratitude to her parents and family members who had stood by her all through her terrible ordeal.
Speaking in Pidgin language, she said, “That period was the most depressing time of my life because I spent three months without nearing the gate of my house, I was indoors.
“And by the time I mustered the energy to go out, people abused me on the road, in fact, one particular person stoned me.
She is known for her song, Kwalelenka, a song she made to spite the Kannywood movie industry.
