Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, is unfortunately not among the winners of the 63rd Grammy Award held on March 14, 2021.
This is contrary to speculations of the artist winning the category for the Album of the year in a feature with Coldplay.
American singer, Taylor Swift, won the category for the Album of the year for the album, ‘Folklore’. Other nominees for the same category include; Everyday life – Coldplay, Chilombo – Jhene Aiko, Djesse Vol.3 – Jacob Collier and others.
Artists like Tiwa Savage, Femi Kuti didn’t make it to the nomination list because they didn’t contribute up to 33% as a songwriter.
Rumors have been going on that the female singer joined Burna Boy and Wizkid in their Grammy wins held on March 14.
Nigerians have taken to social media to congratulate the artists including Tiwa Savage.
Tiwa Savage joined Coldplay’s album in the song ‘Eko’ . Coldplay’s Everyday Life also dived into Afrobeat, sampling Fela in their single “Arabesque,” and having Femi Kuti play the sample in a live performance.
It would have been a double win-win for Nigerians if the album, ‘Everyday Lifestyle’ had won considering the number of Nigerians on the Album.
