A former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has been detained by the police for allegedly breaking into the sealed spring palm apartments and hotels said to be owned by his wife, Nkechi Okorocha.

It would be recalled that the Imo State government seized some properties acquired by the former governor in his wife’s name.

Okorocha is reported to have stormed the estate at the early hours of Sunday with some men and broke open the gate to forcefully take over the building.

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwaneri alongside his Youths Affairs counterpart, Eric Uwakwe arrived at the scene and engaged the supporters of the former governor in a fierce battle.

Okorocha’s security vehicles were reportedly destroyed and his orderly gruesomely attacked and injured in the fight.

Two people were also reported to have died in the process.

Eyewitnesses revealed that sounds of gunshots rented the air and people consequently ran for their safety in the estate.

The former governor is yet to be released at press time.

Meanwhile, the ex-Governor is under intense investigation by the anti corruption agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

The Imo State Government has also leveled various allegations of corruption against the ex-Governor who is currently serving in the Senate.
