Imo sole COVID-19 fatality didn’t occur in isolation centre, says Iwu

The Chairman of Imo State Task Force on COVID-19, Prof. Maurice Iwu, has disclosed that the state’s only recorded fatality didn’t occur in its isolation facility.

Mr Iwu, a respected Professor of Pharmacognosy, made this known in an exclusive interview with KAFTANPost on Friday.

The South-East state of Imo, despite reporting 114 positive coronavirus cases, boasts an extremeley low mortality rate and impressive recoveries.

As at Thursday, there has been a solitary death in the state, amassing to 0.8 per cent fatality ratio.

However, the state may even be flawless, as the only patient that died was outisde of its facility.

According to the ex-Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) boss, the person was found to be positive postmortem.

This means the state has a success rate of 100 per cent without any causality during treatment.

His words: “The person that died was never in isolation. She was found to be positive postmortem. We have 100% success rate in case handling so far. ”

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday announced 681 new cases, another daily high infection with Imo accounting for 31.
