President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that they will soon experience a peaceful atmosphere across the country as the incessant killings will be put to an end.

The President gave the assurance on Tuesday while sympathising with families of policemen reportedly murdered in the South East.

He accused “misguided separatist elements who videotaped the bestial killings and proceeded to share it widely on social media”.

He said “the people would no longer mourn and sorrow from wanton loss of lives”.

The President, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, lamented what he called “the horrific nature of the bloodletting” which, he added, indicated that some minds were “completely overtaken by hatred, and reduced to the basest level imaginable”.

In the statement titled “President Buhari Condoles with Families of Policemen Murdered in Gruesome Manner”, Buhari said the three abducted policemen, two of whom were later brutally executed, were serving the country, and providing security to those who ironically turned against them.

Buhari, who sent condolences to the bereaved families, prayed for God’s comfort in their deep sorrow.

The President therefore charged those affected by insecurity to take solace in the inevitable victory of good over evil.
